tcpdump is a packet filter/analyzer which dumps traffic on a network

running
at least I am testing with the versions mentioned below, your milage may vary
with other versions
* Warp 3 fixpak 22
* EMX 0.9c fix 2
* TCP/IP 4.01b
compiling
most probably any version will do, however I am using the versions below
* the usual GNU file|shell|text utilities
* GNU make 3.75
* GNU bison 1.22
* GNU flex 2.5.4
* GNU sed 3.0
* Edgar Buerkle's IpSpy 1.32

* gnunet10.zip
* EMX 0.9c fix 2
* GCC 2.7.2.1
History
31.12.96 released tcpdumpa.zip
updated to IpSpy 1.32 which support promiscuous mode
hacked an exit-handler
timestamps corrected
13.04.97 released tcpdumpb.zip
Limitations
* promiscuous mode not available for TokenRing cards, due to limitation of IpSpy
* unable to return 'packets dropped by kernel', always 0; limitation of IpSpy
